Exploring character through bodily gesture

These drawings are part of an ongoing observation of how character emerges through posture rather than through narrative. 

What interests me is the thin line between observation and caricature. At what point does a bodily gesture stop being neutral and begin to reveal character?

How little is needed for a posture to turn into a portrait?  

 

Drawing as process

This drawing emerged from movement. A body suspended between motion and stillness,
between walking and falling, between presence and exhaustion.

Observation of everyday gestures: how the same simple action can be carried by different bodies, different temperaments.

Taking out the trash, in this sense, is not a neutral act.

It becomes a small stage where personality, resistance, habit, and exhaustion quietly surface through posture and movement.
